The worlds

One app, many ways to play.

Paris is the starting world. Each new world keeps Guildenza’s moves, changes a real decision in the game and adds a character you can only meet there.

Paris Age of Knights

The starting world: trade, stalls and bridges over the Seine.

A romanticised Paris of the knights: markets on the quays, bridges lined with houses, boats on the Seine. You run a trade and seek the influence of the guilds.

What you do there

  • Buy shards of six colours, scarce and with changing prices
  • Deliver the guilds’ orders to gain influence
  • Build stalls on your two banks: links, bridges and producing pairs
  • Take a character each round who gives you an advantage

The starting world

Paris is the basis of every world: here you learn trading, stall families, links and the bridges of the Seine. Each new world keeps these moves, adds its own novelty and a character you can only meet there.

Example. Two Workshops side by side form a pair: they give you one more shard at the end of every round.

Rome Arena Prestige

Spectacles announced in advance, which pay more… but later.

An imaginary ancient Rome in the middle of its festival season: warm stone, marble, purple fabrics. You supply the city’s great spectacles: flower festival, poetry contest, parade of flowered chariots. No fighting: you prepare the celebration.

What makes it different

  • 6 festival goods (saffron, glass, laurel…), bought with sesterces
  • 3 shows announced ahead: sesterces at once, ★ on the day of the show
  • The Processional Way: its festive arches give tesserae (wildcards)
  • 7 characters, including the Festival Director, found only in Rome

What’s new: spectacles

Three spectacles are announced in advance, each with its date. You may deliver a recipe to one whenever you like before its date: the coins arrive at once, the influence on the day of the spectacle. If the game ends before, the promised influence is lost.

Exclusive: The Festival Director

You will only meet her in Rome: in the round you choose her, your first show contribution needs 1 fewer good.

Example. Flower festival, at the end of round 6: you hand over 2 saffron and 1 laurel. You get 5 sesterces at once, then 3 ★ at the end of round 6.

Egypt Builders of the Nile

Great shared building sites that every player contributes to.

An imaginary Nile valley: waterside markets, white-sailed barges, stone quarries. Pyramid, quay, canal, colonnade, obelisk: great building sites await your materials.

What makes it different

  • 6 materials: golden sandstone, faience, papyrus, red granite, amethyst, basalt
  • You pay in debens; the Lotus Seal counts as any colour
  • The Contribute action: 2 great building sites open to all, ★ shared at each stage
  • Your shops line both banks of the Nile, linked by ferries

What’s new: shared building sites

Two great building sites are open to everyone, in three stages. Each unit you bring pays at once. When a stage is finished, everyone gains influence according to what they brought, and the biggest contributor gets a bonus.

Exclusive: The Quarry Master

You will only meet her in the Nile valley: with her, your first contribution each round earns 1 extra receipt.

Example. A stage needs 2 basalt and 2 papyrus. You bring 3, your opponent 1: when it is finished, you gain 1 ★ and the biggest contributor’s bonus.

Maya cities Sky Cycles

The Sky Wheel, five visible phases that change your opportunities.

Imaginary Maya cities: white limestone plazas, terraces, cacao gardens, jade workshops. You pay in cacao beans, and the Sky Mirror is the wildcard.

What makes it different

  • A 5-phase Sky Wheel: a different favour every round
  • Exchange: transform 2 identical goods into 2 different ones
  • Honey, jade, feathers, obsidian… paid for in cacao beans
  • Terraces face to face: each arch gives a wild card, the Sky Mirror

What’s new: the Sky Wheel

Above the market turns a wheel of five phases: Dawn, Growth, Zenith, Exchange, Vigil. It moves on every round and everyone can see it. Each phase gives a small advantage: a cheaper purchase or stall, a better-paid sale, a more prestigious delivery.

Exclusive: The Maize Sower

You will only meet him in the Maya cities: the Sower is always one round ahead of the wheel and also enjoys the next phase’s favour.

Example. During Exchange, you hand back 2 purple cotton and take 1 jade and 1 feather.

New York Years of Ambition

A shared city, where every spot taken is lost to the others.

A great city of the 1920s, in art deco style: avenues and trams, brick warehouses, towers under construction, cafés and department stores.

What makes it different

  • Copper, glass, cloth, brick, ink, steel; you pay in dollars
  • One city for everyone: every lot you take is lost to your rivals
  • Group two same-family businesses: +3 ★ and 1 unit each round
  • End of game: whoever has the most businesses in a district gains 3 ★

What’s new: contested districts

The city has three districts on both sides of the Grand Avenue. Two of your businesses of the same family, side by side, can be grouped: influence at once, then one good every round. At the end of the game, whoever has the most businesses in a district gains a bonus.

Exclusive: The Property Developer

Only she can reserve a lot: at the start of the round she holds one place in the city for you, and you build there for 1 dollar less.

Example. You meant to open a second café next to your first one to group them… but your opponent takes the spot first!

Hollywood Spotlight Age

Produce films and choose the right moment to release them.

Invented film studios in the spirit of the 1930s to 1950s: spotlights, red velvet, film reels, palm trees and sunsets.

What makes it different

  • Produce pictures and release them when their genre is on the marquee: +2 ★
  • 6 studio resources (film stock, talent…), paid for with cinema tickets
  • Studio Boulevard: two families facing each other roll out a red carpet
  • 7 studio jobs, including the Cinema Programmer, found only here

What’s new: films

Sign a film project, commit your resources to it, then choose when to release it. A film released while its genre is on the bill earns a bonus. But waiting is risky: a film never released before the end of the game earns nothing.

Exclusive: The Cinema Programmer

He knows the cinema schedule before anyone else: once per round, your picture earns the marquee bonus one round early.

Example. An adventure film of 3 resources earns 4 ★ on release, and 2 ★ more if adventure is on the bill that round.

Worlds in preparation

Rome, Egypt, the Maya cities, New York and Hollywood are not playable yet, and their rules may still change. Each world will be sold separately on release, as a one-time purchase. No date has been announced yet.
